Hi, Stacey!
Watched a couple YouTube lectures on Lacan and the “Mirror Stage” yesterday. Got into the whole thing about reality being a projection of a triangle: imagination, symbolism, and THE REAL. THE REAL being marketed as, like, so scary. Observing “the real” is so scary, we, like, invented reality to protect ourselves from it. We can only view the so-called real as a mere fractal against IMAGINATION and SYMBOLISM. We must be removed, or we’ll realize existence is a three-legged stool, and one of the legs is literally a void of nothingness. It’s like, we can watch a shadow puppet play on the wall but we can’t bear to witness the hands in the flashlight. Because the entire mystique is destroyed by watching what happens in the light. It would be too sad to accept the whole show is phony and always has been. It seems easier to just never look at the light.
Another term for the void of nothingness, though, is non-sense. Nonsense. Now, this is cute to me. This is silly. Because while “nonsense” literally means non-sensical, it’s also more colloquially goofy. Tee hee! Especially because Sabrina Carpenter wrote such a clowny little song about nonsense, thinking about reality hinging on nonsense sounds kinda refreshing.
If you’re deciding what to do and be, Stacey– Well, actually, pause. I think I would say this to any being reading these words, Stacey– If you’re deciding what to do and be, and you have the choice to act in the realm of void or nonsense, choose the nonsense. Everything, literally, everything could be beautiful and harmonious. There would be challenge and struggle and pain, but we just don’t need exploitation and suffering anymore.
Waiting for a sign.
xoxo
Alice
